Great book I love the "dummies" series from the ones Ive read so far. It doesn't dance around all the silly intricate baloney but gets to the point quickly and concisely. I went to the book store to review other asvab book help test material and they seemed so long winded and I felt like I would eventually get lost on the page staring aimlessly at intricate details which after a while can become monotonous and confusing. My actual test is scheduled for next week, the practice tests seem to be very helpful but the real proof will be in the pudding... so I guess till the actual deed is done this is mostly speculation so I guess we'll see next week. Wish me luck! Thanks!

You’ll need to bring valid identification (photo ID, SSN card) to be admitted into the ASVAB testing room. Arrive on time— you’ll be turned away and required to reschedule if you are late. Your recruiter may give you a ride to and from the session, but he/she is not permitted in the testing room. You will not need to bring a calculator for the test.

This book was worth every nickel in preparing me for the ASVAB. I was at MEPS on Thursday and Friday this week and absolutely destroyed the ASVAB, earning an AFQT composite score of 96. If you actually take the time and read this book, memorize, memorize, memorize the info presented, and practice all of the tests, you will succeed in getting the score you need for your desired job. The information contained is up-to-date and the format is easy to understand and follow.

There are nine different test areas as part of the ASVAB: general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, electronics information, auto and shop information, assembling objects, and mechanical comprehension. The paragraph comprehension test area contains the fewest questions with 15. The word knowledge test area contains the most questions with 35. All other sections contain 20, 25, or 30 questions. Taking numerious ASVAB practice tests is recommended for test day success.
In order to take the ASVAB at a MEPS for enlistment purposes, an individual will need to speak with a recruiter and schedule a time to take the test. ASVAB testing at a MEPS is self-paced and taken on a computer, and it may be retaken after a one-month waiting period.  Entitled the CAT-ASVAB, the test is adaptive – meaning it adapts to your ability level.

Very helpful and has good tests. The actual ASVAB is easier, which is a good thing. Prepare and practice with harder tests and a study guide like this, and you will do well. Just give yourself plenty of time to study. Ideally at least a week at minimum. If I recall I practiced with this for 2 weeks. I scored 93 on AFQT. I was quite a few years removed from high school too, so I had to relearn some of this stuff. Others, I learned for the first time.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is one of the most widely used multiple-aptitude test batteries in the world. It was originally designed to predict success in military occupations and is used today to help both those considering entering the military (mostly high school-aged students, but also anyone who is eligible to enlist) as well as those not interested in military service (who comprise the majority of current ASVAB test takers) what sort of career may be the best fit for them. Scores from the ASVAB can be used when enlisting in the military. Students interested in taking the ASVAB should check with their high school to find out when and if the ASVAB will be offered at their school. If it is not offered, students should meet with their guidance counselor to determine if it is possible to schedule a testing session in the future. There is no cost to take the ASVAB.

Getting a low score on the ASVAB might mean missing a chance at the military job you really want–or possibly not getting in the military at all. If the thought of taking the ASVAB has you stressed out, don’t worry- we’re here to help! Our free practice test for the ASVAB will help you identify areas or concepts you may struggle with understanding, so you can maximize the time you have to study and get the score you want the first time.

ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It is a test that was originally established in 1968 to measure and predict the success of an applicant in various academic and occupational pursuits in the military. High school and post-secondary students and adults take the test more than one million times each year. If you’re interested in joining the military, or if you already have and would like to take a sample test, simply navigate through the ten practice test sections and take whichever tests you’d like as often as you’d like.
